So being a nosy Nelli, and nearing my typical plateau, I was wondering what dieting methods and ideas everyone out there is ascribing to at this time...
So I devised a few questions that I was hoping you could all answer for me, since I can always use inspiration to break through the 180's...I don't care how brief or wordy you are, say as much as you like, but it would be great if you could answer!
1. Briefly what kind of diet are you using right now, and what supplements (if any) do you take while dieting?
2. Approximately how many calories do you feel you need to consume to lose weight effectively, without being a zombie?
3. When/if you have reached your goal, what maintenance plans will you use?
4. How often do you exercise, and what kinds do you do?
5. Pre-diet, what foods were your weakness, and how do you avoid them now?
6. If you yo-yo dieted in the past, what do you plan to do to try to keep the weight off for good this time?
7. How do you reward yourself for losing weight, if at all?
8. What is your plateau-busting secret?
9. Do you feel that the dieting process has increased or decreased your self-confidence/self-worth?
10. How do you stay honest in your dieting?
I thank you all in advance for any help you can provide!

1. Briefly what kind of diet are you using right now, and what supplements (if any) do you take while dieting? No diet, just a calorie count. I take a multi-vitamin and fish oil.
2. Approximately how many calories do you feel you need to consume to lose weight effectively, without being a zombie? I use a calorie scale 1500 to 1800. I try to stick close to 1500, but I have the extra 300 calories in case I feel the need to use them.
3. When/if you have reached your goal, what maintenance plans will you use? Hoping by that time, it will be my life, not just part of it.
4. How often do you exercise, and what kinds do you do? I try to excercise 5 days a week and mix it up. Videos, treadmill, recumbent bike, circuit training.
5. Pre-diet, what foods were your weakness, and how do you avoid them now? Potatoes...I run the other way
6. If you yo-yo dieted in the past, what do you plan to do to try to keep the weight off for good this time? Change my life, not just lose weight
7. How do you reward yourself for losing weight, if at all? I am not good at this part.
8. What is your plateau-busting secret? increase excercise intensity
9. Do you feel that the dieting process has increased or decreased your self-confidence/self-worth? decreased believe it or not. When I am not dieting, I don't have to think about how I feel about myself.
10. How do you stay honest in your dieting? remind myself that I am the reason I am in my situation, being honest with myself is the only way I will heal.
1) approx 1400-1500 calories per day, 250-300 calorie mini meals 5-6 times per day works best for me. Writing everything down and pre planning is a must!
2) I've been exercising 4-5 days per week, mostly cardio. I really want to hire a trainer for strength training weekly also
3) refined carbs are a huge weakness for me
4) I don't reward myself. I'm not there yet. I do treat myself well by going to the salon. I don't make myself reach a certain goal before getting my hair colored, a mani/pedi, or a massage. I consider it part of self care and as a result, feel better about myself and as a result, more apt to be motivated to extend that to eating and exercise.
Staying honest for me, the best way, is writing everything down. If I mess up and eat something wrong..just face it, and get back on the wagon and keep going.
1. Briefly what kind of diet are you using right now, and what supplements (if any) do you take while dieting?
* I eat on an every three hour schedule. Specific calories and protein every three hours. No skipping meals, no rolling over calories.
2. Approximately how many calories do you feel you need to consume to lose weight effectively, without being a zombie?
* Mine chances about every three months. I've been as high as 2300 and I'm currently at about 1800. I don't think I've been lower than that. I base my calories off of my lean mass. That's why I have my body fat done every three months.
3. When/if you have reached your goal, what maintenance plans will you use?
* I will still count calories and follow a 5 times a week gym schedule.
4. How often do you exercise, and what kinds do you do?
* I lift. I lift heavy. I do cardio on occasion. You will not get "bulky". I challenge anyone who says otherwise.
5. Pre-diet, what foods were your weakness, and how do you avoid them now?
* Um....food was my weakness! I really don't avoid anything other than some fast food, and only because that was easy and convenient. If I crave something, I find a way to work it in.
6. If you yo-yo dieted in the past, what do you plan to do to try to keep the weight off for good this time?
* I never really gave dieting a serious try until 2 years ago.
7. How do you reward yourself for losing weight, if at all?
* I do a physical activity that I could not have done 2 years ago. I.E. rock climbig on my bday.
8. What is your plateau-busting secret?
* More workouts and being patient.
9. Do you feel that the dieting process has increased or decreased your self-confidence/self-worth?
* I feel that everything has changed for the positive, except my saggy skin!
10. How do you stay honest in your dieting?
* I write down what I eat, calories, fat, protein.....every day. No excuses. I weigh myself every 2 weeks and have my measurements done once a month. I have my body fat measured every 3 months. I talk to friends about my progress.
1. Briefly what kind of diet are you using right now, and what supplements (if any) do you take while dieting?
I don't follow a diet at all. Weight watchers, slimming world...they all scare me! I just eat what I like and do some form of exercise daily. I dont take any supplements either.
2. Approximately how many calories do you feel you need to consume to lose weight effectively, without being a zombie?
I've never counted calories before so I honestly don't know!!
3. When/if you have reached your goal, what maintenance plans will you use?
I'm just 3lbs from my goal now and if i'm honest i dont have a clue what maintenance plan to use. I just hope I continue as I have been doing.
4. How often do you exercise, and what kinds do you do?
I exercise daily. I walk to and from work (3 miles each way) and i play football (soccer) twice a week and I also go to the gym at least once or twice a week.
5. Pre-diet, what foods were your weakness, and how do you avoid them now?
Pizza, hamburgers, chips (fries)...I don't avoid any food I had pre-weight loss, I just make sure I have correct sized portion.
6. If you yo-yo dieted in the past, what do you plan to do to try to keep the weight off for good this time?
In the past I wasnt mentally ready to lose weight. I lost weight then put it all back on. This time I realise just how bad my health will become if I put it back on.
7. How do you reward yourself for losing weight, if at all?
I set myself goals to try and achieve. If I achieve a goal (i.e. lose 12 lbs) then I reward myself with a gift such as new shoes.
8. What is your plateau-busting secret?
Work my butt off harder at the gym so I feel the pain!
9. Do you feel that the dieting process has increased or decreased your self-confidence/self-worth?
Losing weight has increased my self confidence and i feel a lot happier.
10. How do you stay honest in your dieting?
I blog about everything, good or bad.
